Mimicking evolution of ‘mini-homeostatic’ modules in supramolecular systems

Natural systems maintain steady internal, physical, and chemical conditions (i.e. they exhibit homeostasis) keep control over their local environment by creating many mini-homeostatic modules. In comparison, synthetic materials are typically formed under equilibrium or kinetically trapped do not usually change properties with time. Hence, devoid of self-regulation, self-correction self-monitoring. Because static nature, reconfiguration is also difficult as unidirectional responses to perturbation. Here, we describe a hydrogel-based homeostatic system self-monitoring self-regulating cyclic energy input. Unlike other dynamic gels feedback loops, our maintains its gel form throughout the cycle across wide pH range. Control evolution modules induces self-correcting property hydrogel which can tune network type improve mechanical system.
